Wizkid is set to headline the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026 in Lagos. Billboard confirmed the news on Thursday, August 13.
The Grammy-winning Afrobeats star will perform on December 18. His show will kick off the two-week festival, which runs until December 30. Livespot360 will produce the event once again. Tickets are already available on the festival’s official website.
The festival made its official debut last year and welcomed over 40,000 fans. Its lineup featured Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea and Tiwa Savage. Other stars included Phyno, Wande Coal, Fave, Young Jonn and Wizkid. This year, fans can expect more major names as organisers prepare to announce additional headliners. Wizkid’s return adds even more excitement to the festive season.
Meanwhile, Detty December Fest is introducing a second stage for its 2026 edition. Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage on opening night. The new Pulse Stage will spotlight emerging artists and fresh African sounds. Livespot co-founder Darey Art Alade says the move will support the next generation. “That’s how ecosystems grow,” he said. The new setup should give rising acts a bigger platform.
Wizkid’s headline performance comes after a relatively quiet year for the singer. He recently worked with Asake, Vybz Kartel, Odeal and Jorja Smith. His previous album, Morayo, reached No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Fans are also waiting for his seventh studio album.
With Detty December growing bigger each year, his Lagos homecoming could be one of December’s biggest music moments.
