Kingibe Will Not Return to Senate in 2027, Wike Insists

Wike and Kingibe

Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says Ireti Kingibe, senator representing the FCT, will not return to the senate in 2027.

Wike spoke on Monday during a media chat in Abuja. He said he had made the prediction over a year ago and remains firm in his position.

“And all of you are shocked. I have said it more than one year ago. Senator, you will not come back as a senator,” he said.

When asked if he was standing by the comment, Wike replied that he does not pretend and does not withdraw his words.

“Mark it today. Today is March 2. My report card will show. Your own report card should also show,” he said.

The FCT minister said he would take his message to satellite town communities across Abuja.

“I will go to the satellite town communities. Do you know her?” he asked.

Wike questioned Kingibe’s performance in office and urged her to present her achievements to the people.

“What did you do as a senator?” he asked.

Wike also dismissed calls for collaboration between both officials.

He said both of them serve under the same federal government and should focus on their respective duties.

“If I am a minister, I will minister well. If you are a senator, make sure you do well,” he said.

Kingibe has previously accused the minister of interfering in FCT matters and using his influence to sideline her, including in the execution of constituency projects. Wike, however, rejected the allegations during the chat.

The senator has yet to respond to the latest remarks.
