“You Can’t Take It From Her” — Joeboy Defends Tyla’s Grammy

Singer Joeboy has shared his thoughts on the controversy surrounding South African star Tyla’s win at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Tyla took home the award for Best African Music Performance with her song Push 2 Start, beating top Nigerian artists like Davido, Omah Lay, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, and Burna Boy.

Her victory sparked mixed reactions online, with some critics arguing that Nigerian artists were more deserving of the award.

In a recent interview with Jay On-Air, Joeboy expressed his belief that Tyla earned the win. While he admitted he was personally rooting for Davido, he acknowledged Tyla’s hard work and talent.

“Honestly, I was hoping Davido would win the Best African Music Performance category at the 2026 Grammys, but you can’t deny Tyla’s success,” Joeboy said. “She’s an incredible artist, whether people like it or not. She truly put in the effort.”

Joeboy also addressed the backlash, saying it’s okay for people to feel disappointed but emphasized that Tyla deserved the recognition.

“People can be upset all they want, but the truth is, she earned that Grammy. I can’t fault her for winning,” he added.
