Air strikes were carried out by Israel on the eastern Beqaa region of Lebanon. A photograph of the strikes circulated widely and showed smoke rising from the targeted area.
Widespread attacks took place across southern Lebanon and the Beqaa valley at the same time. Israeli forces focused on Hezbollah positions during the operations.
Strikes Target Hezbollah Military Sites
The Israeli Air Force hit eight military compounds that belonged to Hezbollah Radwan Force. Israeli officials said the sites stored weapons and rockets. The locations also served for training.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee explained that the compounds supported plans for attacks against Israel.
Evacuation Warnings Came Before Operations
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued orders for residents to leave several villages in the eastern Beqaa Valley. He named areas including Nabi Chit, Khader, Sarain al-Fawqa and Sarain al-Tahta as reported by ALO360.
Adraee stated, “To ensure your safety, we call on you to evacuate the area immediately and head west via the Zahle–Baalbek road.” He added that anyone near Hezbollah facilities put their lives and their families at risk.Lebanese media reported strikes soon after in places such as Douris and Brital near Baalbek.
Lebanese health officials announced deaths and injuries after the strikes. The overall death toll from Israeli attacks across Lebanon this week exceeded 120 people.
Furthermore, five people died and seven others suffered injuries in strikes on the southern city of Sidon.
Lebanese Officials Condemned The Actions
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the Israeli strikes. He said persisting in using Lebanon as a platform for wars exposed the country to new risks.
Hezbollah issued a strong response as well. The group stated, “Your military’s aggression against Lebanese sovereignty and safe citizens, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the expulsion campaign it is carrying out will not go unchallenged.”
