EFCC interrogates Justice John Tsoho following interception of spouse with large cash sum en route to Benue State amid separate asset declaration probe
EFCC Questions Chief Judge
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission interrogated Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, for several hours on Tuesday. The questioning focused on 160,000 in cash found in his wife’s possession during a recent travel interception.
An EFCC source confirmed the development to SaharaReporters. “EFCC interrogated the Chief Judge, Tsoho, for hours on Tuesday over his wife’s cash haul,” the source said.
Wife Intercepted With Cash
The interrogation followed an earlier interception of Justice Tsoho’s wife by EFCC operatives.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the operatives stopped her while she was traveling to Benue State. Subsequently, the operatives returned her to Abuja.”

Furthermore, sources indicated that the EFCC operatives allegedly discovered 160,000 in cash in her possession at the point of interception. “160,000 cash was reportedly found in her possession at the point of interception,” the source added.
The circumstances surrounding the funds and the purpose of the trip remained unclear at the time of the reports.
Separate Asset Declaration Probe
The cash interception occurred amid growing scrutiny of Justice Tsoho. The Chief Judge faced a separate investigation regarding allegations of incomplete asset declarations.
A petition accused Justice Tsoho of violating the Code of Conduct law by allegedly failing to fully disclose his assets. The petition specifically mentioned three bank accounts with United Bank for Africa and another with Access Bank that were allegedly omitted from his declaration.
Justice Tsoho denied these allegations. He insisted that he had fully complied with all legal requirements for asset declaration.
Scheduled Appearance Before Conduct BureauJ
ustice Tsoho was scheduled to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau on March 16, 2026. The appearance related to the asset declaration allegations.
