The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) rescued six trafficked children and arrested seven suspects in Niger State. As reported by ALO360 operatives from the Niger State Command conducted the raid in Minna on March 17 2026. Officials acted swiftly to break up the exploitation ring and protect the young victims.
NAPTIP State Command Leads Successful Raid
Mr Ibrahim Garba coordinated the operation as head of the Niger State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons. Consequently his team stormed the suspects hideout in the early hours and freed all six children without delay.
Moreover officials arrested the seven suspects at the scene. The victims all young boys with an average age of ten years came from Magama Local Government Area.
Operation Exposes Syndicate Tactics
The command detailed the criminals activities. “In the process four children were taken two were kept by the suspects as domestic helpers while the other two were sold through the same network” Mr Ibrahim Garba stated.
In addition the syndicate had trafficked the boys for forced labour and other exploitation. Therefore the rescued children received immediate medical checks and psychological support from agency officers.
Suspects Head to Court
Mr Ibrahim Garba confirmed the next steps. “The suspects remain in custody and will face full prosecution under the Trafficking in Persons Act” he added.
As a result the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons handed the case file to prosecutors. Furthermore investigators continue to trace other members of the network.
Command Vows Stronger Action
The Niger State Command praised the joint intelligence that led to the breakthrough. Consequently this operation sent a clear warning to traffickers across the region.In addition the agency urged residents to report suspicious activities involving children. Therefore parents and community leaders must stay vigilant to prevent future cases.
