The Federal Government approved N32 billion for primary healthcare facilities across Nigeria. As reported by ALO360 the decision came after the Ministerial Oversight Committee meeting on March 24 2026 to strengthen basic health services and improve access for citizens.
Coordinating Minister Announces Disbursement
Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate confirmed the allocation as Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. Consequently the funds will flow directly to primary health centres through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund.
“The resources that the Federal Government is disbursing through the BHCPF are getting to the facilities and we also approved the disbursement of N32 billion to the facilities” he stated.
Moreover the approval supports facility operations and expands quality care at the grassroots level.
Committee Reviews Progress
The Ministerial Oversight Committee chaired the session in Abuja. In addition members examined previous disbursements and approved the fresh release for the first quarter of 2026.
As a result the money will equip more than 8 000 primary health centres and prepare for further expansion under the BHCPF 2.0 guidelines.
States Receive Direct Support
The Federal Government directed the funds to state accounts for immediate use at ward-level facilities. Therefore local governments will handle day-to-day implementation and ensure transparency.
Furthermore the move builds on earlier quarterly releases and maintains momentum in the health sector reform agenda.
