Football clubs across Europe are mourning the sudden death of former Arsenal and Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger.

Former Arsenal and Liverpool FC goalkeeper Alex Manninger has died at the age of 48 following a tragic car accident in Austria.
According to reports, Manninger was driving near Salzburg on Thursday morning when his vehicle was struck by a train at a level crossing in Pabing, close to Nussdorf am Haunsberg. Local media said the collision happened around 8:20 a.m. His car was dragged several metres by the train.
Emergency responders pulled Manninger from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Reports added that the 25 passengers on board the train were not injured.
The Austrian Football Association confirmed his death and described the news as deeply shocking. Several former clubs also released emotional tributes.
Arsenal said everyone at the club was shocked and saddened, while Liverpool FC said thoughts were with his family and friends. Juventus FC also praised Manninger as a player and a man of rare values.
Manninger enjoyed a long professional career spanning 22 years and 15 clubs. He played 39 matches for Arsenal between 1997 and 2002, helping the club win the Premier League and FA Cup. He later featured for Juventus, Red Bull Salzburg, and several Italian clubs. He also earned 33 caps for Austria.
His death has sent shockwaves through the football world, where he is being remembered for professionalism, humility, and consistency.
