Trump threatens Iran strikes, announces Islamabad peace talks

Tensions remain high as President Donald Trump pushes for a new deal with Iran before a fragile ceasefire expires.

U.S. President Donald Trump has again warned Iran of possible military strikes on key infrastructure, while confirming that American representatives will travel to Islamabad, Pakistan, for a fresh round of peace talks on Monday night.

In a post on social media, Trump accused Iran of violating the current ceasefire by allegedly firing on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. He described the incident as a “total violation” and urged Tehran to accept what he called a “fair and reasonable deal.”

Trump warned that if no agreement is reached, the United States could target Iran’s power plants and bridges. He added that military action would be taken if diplomacy fails.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, making any threat in the area a major global concern. Rising tensions there have already unsettled markets and increased fears of wider conflict in the Middle East.

Iran has not officially responded to Trump’s latest remarks. However, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said in a statement on Saturday that Iran’s navy was prepared to deliver “new defeats” to the U.S. and Israel.

The current ceasefire agreement between the two sides is set to expire on Wednesday, adding urgency to the planned talks in Islamabad. Observers say the next 72 hours could be critical in deciding whether diplomacy succeeds or hostilities return.

World leaders will now watch closely as Washington and Tehran head into another high-stakes negotiation.
