The Nigerian Air Force says it has struck and destroyed terrorist hideouts in Borno State.
Nigerian Air Force announced that its air assets destroyed suspected terrorist enclaves in Southern Tumbuns, Borno State.
The operation was carried out through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI on Friday evening at about 6:50 p.m.
According to the military, the strike targeted Ali Sheriffti, described as a known terrorist stronghold in the Southern Tumbuns area.
Officials said the mission followed credible intelligence reports of insurgent movement in the location.
During aerial surveillance, several suspects were reportedly seen using concealed routes before moving into structures hidden under thick vegetation.
After confirming the targets, the Air Force said it launched a precision strike using onboard munitions. The military said the operation destroyed the identified structures and weakened the group’s movement and operational capacity in the area.
Air Marshal Sunday Aneke said the Air Force would continue to dismantle terrorist networks with sustained and precise operations. He added that no safe haven would be left beyond the reach of Nigerian forces.
Southern Tumbuns, located around the Lake Chad region, has long been a difficult terrain used by insurgent groups because of its waterways and dense vegetation.
Security operations in the area have intensified in recent years as Nigeria pushes to weaken terrorist camps and restore stability.
The latest strike signals continued pressure on armed groups operating in the Northeast.
