Foundation Awards N1bn to Entrepreneurs
The Jerry Eze Foundation has distributed N1bn in grants to 240 small and micro business owners. Each beneficiary received $3,000 to start or expand a business.
The grant award ceremony took place at Transcorp Hilton Abuja and attracted key stakeholders from different sectors.
Transparent Selection Process Conducted
The foundation engaged KPMG to manage the selection process. Over 16,000 applicants registered for the programme.
Out of this number, 9,668 completed the process and met the criteria. Only 240 entrepreneurs were selected across Nigeria.
Focus on Key Sectors
The initiative targeted three major sectors. These include agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.
The sectors were chosen for their strong potential to drive economic growth and job creation.
Oby Ezekwesili Calls for Scale
Former minister Oby Ezekwesili urged beneficiaries to focus on expansion and impact. She stressed the need for businesses to grow beyond small operations.
She encouraged entrepreneurs to match their growth with Africa’s challenges.
Ibukun Awosika Encourages Collaboration
Ibukun Awosika described the programme as a bridge between potential and progress.
She advised beneficiaries to learn from others and build strong networks.

Founder Jerry Eze said the initiative reflects his belief in giving. He encouraged recipients to focus on value creation and community impact.
He expressed confidence that many businesses would grow significantly within a year.
Dignitaries Attend Grant Ceremony
The event attracted notable figures from government, business, and entertainment. Attendees included Benjamin Kalu, Olanipekun Olukoyede, and Olugbenga Agboola.
Others present were Obi Cubana, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Timi Dakolo.
