US Expands Recall of Frozen Pizzas Over Salmonella Risk

Walmart and Aldi Products Affected by Contamination Alert

The Food Safety and Inspection Service has expanded a food recall over possible salmonella contamination.

The updated recall now includes six products, among them frozen pizzas sold at Walmart and Aldi.

Officials linked the issue to contaminated dry milk powder used in production.

Great Value and Mama Cozzi’s Pizzas Included

Two affected pizzas belong to Walmart’s Great Value brand. They include the Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch.

The recall also covers two Mama Cozzi’s pizzas sold at Aldi. These include breakfast-style options with sausage, pork belly, bacon, and vegetables.

Authorities warn that more products could be added as investigations continue.

Walmart Removes Products From Stores

A Walmart spokesperson confirmed that the company has removed the affected items from shelves.

The company also placed a sales restriction on the products. It is currently working with suppliers to investigate the issue.

Contaminated Ingredient Linked to Wider Recall

The recall connects to a previously flagged batch of dry milk powder. The issue has already affected other products.

In April, Ghirardelli Chocolate Company recalled powdered beverage items linked to the same ingredient.

Other affected items include pork rinds and additional frozen pizza products distributed by different brands.

No Illnesses Reported So Far

The Food Safety and Inspection Service has not recorded any confirmed illnesses linked to the products.

However, officials continue to monitor the situation closely.

Health Risks of Salmonella Infection

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns that salmonella remains a leading cause of foodborne illness in the United States.

Symptoms often appear within six hours to six days after exposure. They include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, and vomiting.

Most people recover within a week. However, older adults, infants, and those with weak immune systems face higher risks.

Consumers Urged to Act Immediately

Authorities advise consumers to discard affected products or return them to the place of purchase.

Retailers must also remove the items from circulation to prevent further risk.
