Army Issues Directive on Social Media Conduct
The Nigerian Army has warned its personnel against using social media, stressing that violators will face disciplinary action.
The Provost Marshal, Mathias Erebulu, gave the directive during a training seminar for Military Police personnel.
Commanders Told to Enforce Compliance
Erebulu instructed commanders to return to their units and reinforce awareness about the risks of social media misuse.
He stated that soldiers must follow existing regulations and avoid activities that could compromise military operations.
According to him, any breach of the rules will attract punishment.
Reminder on Civilian Detention Rules
The Army also reminded personnel about legal limits on detaining civilians. Erebulu said soldiers must not hold civilians in military facilities beyond 24 hours.
He explained that troops should hand over any arrested civilian to the appropriate law enforcement agency after preliminary investigations.
Focus on Discipline and Accountability
The seminar focused on strengthening discipline among Military Police personnel.
The event was featured on African Independent Television during its morning programme, Kakaaki.
Army authorities said the measures aim to improve professionalism and ensure compliance with national laws.
