Real Madrid stars Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde have been fined after a heated training ground clash left Valverde hospitalised.
Real Madrid have fined midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde €500,000 each following a training ground altercation that escalated earlier this week.
The incident reportedly began during Wednesday’s training session before tensions flared again on Thursday. Valverde was later taken to hospital and diagnosed with cranioencephalic trauma.
The Spanish club confirmed disciplinary proceedings were opened after an emergency meeting led by club president Florentino Perez. Both players later appeared before club investigators, apologised to each other, teammates, staff and fans, and accepted the financial punishment.
Despite the incident, Tchouameni has not been suspended and could still feature in Sunday’s El Clasico clash against FC Barcelona. Valverde, however, is expected to miss up to two weeks through injury.
The situation comes during a difficult season for Madrid following their UEFA Champions League exit and growing frustration inside the squad.
