Air Peace has announced a temporary disruption to its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick service after a routine technical inspection detected a minor fault on the aircraft.
The airline disclosed the development in a statement shared on its official X handle on Saturday.
Fault Detected After Boarding
According to the airline, engineers discovered the issue after passengers had already boarded the aircraft.
“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the statement said.
The airline explained that officials safely disembarked all passengers while technical teams worked on the aircraft.
Airline Prioritises Passenger Safety
Air Peace said it suspended the flight to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members.
The airline stressed that operational schedules would never take priority over safety standards.
“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the company stated.
It also acknowledged the inconvenience caused to travellers and described the decision as necessary.
Replacement Aircraft Dispatched
The carrier said affected passengers received hotel accommodation and other support services while waiting for the replacement flight.
Air Peace added that another aircraft would depart from London to operate the delayed service.
“To minimise further disruption, a replacement aircraft from London will be dispatched and passengers are scheduled to depart this morning,” the airline said.
Passengers Appreciate Response
The airline thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation during the disruption.
It also reassured customers of its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable operations across all routes.
“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our passengers during this period,” the statement added.
