The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has announced plans to unveil its Drone and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems portal during the 6th Africa International Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition, DroneTecX 2026.
The conference will hold from May 12 to 16 at the NIGAV Expo Centre, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State.
NCAA Unveils Digital Drone Platform
The NCAA disclosed the development in a statement released by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu.
The statement was also shared on the agency’s official X handle on Saturday.
According to the authority, the new portal will improve the regulation of drone operations across Nigeria and support the growth of the sector.
The platform will handle drone registration, operator certification, ownership transfer, incident reporting, and compliance monitoring.
Portal to Simplify Approval Process
The NCAA explained that the portal would reduce delays and simplify approval procedures for drone operators.
The agency said individuals, commercial operators, and small businesses would benefit from the digital platform.
“The new digital portal consolidates the entire application and approval lifecycle into a single, user-friendly platform,” the statement read.
Operators will also upload documents, submit safety reports, and monitor application progress in real time.
The authority noted that the system complies fully with Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations under Nig. CARs Part 22.
Stakeholders Invited to Explore Platform
The NCAA encouraged drone operators, service providers, and industry stakeholders to visit the portal ahead of the official rollout.
Interested users can access the platform through NCAA RPAS Portal.
The authority also invited participants to attend DroneTecX 2026 for live demonstrations and practical guidance on using the platform.
Industry Expected to Benefit
The NCAA said the initiative would reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and improve operational efficiency in Nigeria’s drone industry.
Industry experts believe the portal could encourage wider adoption of drone technology in sectors such as agriculture, logistics, surveillance, mapping, and media production.
