Anglican Bishop Commends Makinde’s Projects, Seeks More Rural Development

Bishop praises infrastructure growth in Oyo

The Anglican Bishop of the Oyo South Missionary Diocese, Olufemi Ebenezer Familoni, has praised the administration of Seyi Makinde for ongoing development projects across Oyo State.

The cleric commended the governor for visible improvements, especially within Ibadan metropolis.

He spoke during his Presidential Charge at the first synod of the diocese held at Cathedral Church of St. John.

The synod focused on the theme, “A Renewed Mind.”

Makinde receives commendation for urban renewal

Familoni applauded the state government for road construction and urban renewal projects in the capital city.

According to him, the projects have improved transportation, business activities, and the overall appearance of Ibadan.

“We sincerely commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to the growth and development of Oyo State,” he said.

He added that rehabilitation of public infrastructure has positively impacted residents and businesses.

Cleric calls for balanced development

Despite the praise, the bishop urged the government to pay greater attention to rural communities across the state.

He stressed the need for fair and inclusive development in every part of Oyo State.

According to him, several towns outside Ibadan still face serious infrastructure challenges.

“In the spirit of fairness and inclusiveness, every community deserves equal attention,” Familoni stated.

Afijio communities need urgent intervention

The bishop specifically highlighted communities within Afijio Local Government Area as areas requiring urgent government intervention.

He noted that many towns in the area still lack good roads, water supply, and other basic amenities.

Familoni said the developmental gaps continue to affect the quality of life in rural communities.

He therefore appealed for faster government action to improve living conditions.

Call for stronger local government system

The cleric also emphasised the importance of strengthening local government administration.

He described local councils as key drivers of grassroots development.

According to him, the expected progress at the local government level has not been fully achieved.

Familoni urged authorities to grant greater autonomy to local councils and release funds promptly.

He explained that effective local governance would improve rural development and community-based projects.

Bishop urges fairness in governance

The bishop maintained that balanced development remains a moral responsibility of leadership.

He stressed that all regions should benefit equally from government policies and projects.

“Every part of the state deserves to feel the impact of governance,” he said.

Familoni also prayed for wisdom and strength for Governor Makinde as his administration continues its projects.

Cleric hopes for lasting legacy

The bishop expressed hope that the governor would leave behind a legacy of fairness and inclusiveness.

He encouraged the administration to sustain development efforts across both urban and rural communities.

Observers say the remarks reflect growing calls for more balanced infrastructure distribution across Oyo State.
