The Federal Ministry of Education says it will host a high-level stakeholders’ workshop aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s education data infrastructure and improving coordination across the sector.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Boriowo Folasade, director of press and public relations at the ministry, said the workshop would hold on May 14, 2026.
According to the statement, the workshop forms part of efforts by the ministry to develop a unified national education data system known as the Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI).
The ministry said the platform would integrate and harmonise data across basic, secondary and tertiary education institutions, including examination bodies and relevant government agencies.
“The Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure is designed to serve as a central platform for education data management in Nigeria,” the statement read.
PROJECT TO SUPPORT EVIDENCE-BASED POLICYMAKING
The ministry explained that the initiative would provide accurate and timely information to support evidence-based policymaking, improve transparency and strengthen planning within the education sector.
As part of the project, the ministry engaged Ernst & Young (EY) to support the design of the system architecture and integration framework.
According to the statement, the workshop will bring together stakeholders from the education sector, government institutions, development partners, examination bodies and the media.
The ministry said participants would review the architecture and design framework of the platform, assess progress made on the initiative and provide feedback ahead of full implementation.
It added that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reflects the federal government’s commitment to a technology-driven education sector.
The ministry called on stakeholders and the public to support the initiative, noting that it is expected to improve coordination, planning and service delivery across Nigeria’s education system.
