Massive Russian attack leaves seven dead in Ukraine

Ukraine says Russia carried out one of its biggest drone and missile attacks since the war began in 2022.

At least seven people, including a 12-year-old girl, were killed after Russia launched a large-scale overnight attack on Kyiv and several other regions across Ukraine. Emergency workers are still searching for more than 20 people feared trapped under the rubble of a destroyed apartment building in the capital.

Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired more than 670 drones and 56 missiles during the assault. Ukrainian officials confirmed that over 180 sites were hit, including residential buildings, schools, and public infrastructure.

In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, rescuers pulled victims from the debris of a collapsed nine-storey apartment block. Authorities said dozens of people were injured, while more than 1,500 rescue workers and police officers were deployed across affected areas.

The strikes came shortly after a temporary ceasefire expired, with Ukraine accusing Russia of intensifying attacks despite international pressure to end the war.

The latest assault adds to growing concerns over civilian casualties as fighting between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate.
