Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will inaugurate its selection committee on Monday following the completion of the screening of governorship, national assembly, and state house of assembly aspirants.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Osa Director, the party’s national publicity secretary, the NDC said the committee will review reports submitted by the national screening committee and state assembly screening panels.
According to the statement, the committee, which Henry Seriake Dickson will inaugurate, will make decisions on the screening outcomes of all aspirants ahead of the 2027 general election.
The party said the move is part of its commitment to transparency, internal democracy and credible candidate selection.
The 21-member committee will be chaired by Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, the national chairman of the party.
The NDC said the committee was constituted in line with recommendations of the party’s national working committee (NWC).
According to the statement, the committee is expected to ensure that the party fields “the most formidable candidate” for every elective position.
The inauguration ceremony will hold at 4pm at the NDC national secretariat in Abuja.
