Mirra Andreeva wins French Open, claims first Grand Slam title

Teenage star Mirra Andreeva captured her first Grand Slam trophy with a dominant victory in the French Open final.

Mirra Andreeva won the 2026 French Open title after defeating Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 in the women’s singles final at Roland Garros.

The 19-year-old Russian overcame an early nervy start before taking control of the match, winning nine consecutive games to move within touching distance of the championship. She sealed victory in one hour and 22 minutes to lift her first Grand Slam title.

Andreeva becomes the youngest women’s French Open champion since Monica Seles won the tournament in 1992. After the match, she celebrated with her coach, Conchita Martinez, saying winning Roland Garros had been a lifelong dream.

Chwalinska, ranked world number 114 and one of the surprise stories of the tournament, enjoyed strong support from thousands of Polish fans but was unable to complete her remarkable underdog run.

Mirra Andreeva’s French Open triumph marks the arrival of a new Grand Slam champion and one of tennis’ brightest young stars.
