Lady Shares Cousin’s JAMB Score After Promising to Buy Her a Phone

A Nigerian woman has shared a funny experience involving her cousin’s performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The woman revealed that she had promised to buy her cousin a new phone if she performed well in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

Promise Came With High Expectations

According to the woman, she made the promise despite her cousin’s poor academic record.

However, she still expected the student to achieve a respectable score in the examination.

She said she would have considered a score between 230 and 250 good enough to earn the reward.

“Two years ago, I promised my cousin that I’d buy her a phone if she did well in JAMB,” she wrote on social media.

UTME Score Falls Below Expectation

However, the result did not meet her expectations.

The woman disclosed that her cousin scored 172 in the examination.

As a result, she decided not to fulfil the promise of buying a phone.

“Babe went to score 172. I comot 20k inside my money go buy fish,” she joked.

Post Sparks Reactions Online

Meanwhile, the story gained attention online after the woman reacted to another social media user discussing a promise made to a relative ahead of the UTME.

Many users found the post amusing and shared similar experiences involving examination results and rewards.

Others argued that effort should also count, regardless of the final score.

JAMB Success Stories Continue to Inspire Students

In a related development, several students have recently shared inspiring admission stories after overcoming challenges in their academic journeys.

One University of Ibadan graduate revealed that she initially wrote JAMB just for the experience but later gained admission and completed her degree.

Similarly, another Law student at the university disclosed that she secured admission after scoring 257 in UTME and performing strongly in the institution’s post-UTME screening.

Candidate Rewrites JAMB After Missing Admission

Elsewhere, a Nursing aspirant rewrote the UTME after missing admission despite scoring 254 in a previous examination.

She later scored 230 in a subsequent UTME and reportedly became emotional after seeing the result.

The story generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users encouraging her not to give up on her academic goals.
