Johan Manzambi came off the bench to score twice as Switzerland secured a commanding World Cup victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Switzerland defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 in a group stage clash, scoring all four goals in a dramatic final 20 minutes.
The breakthrough came in the 74th minute when substitute Johan Manzambi volleyed home less than three minutes after entering the match. Bosnia’s task became even harder when Tarik Muharemovic received a straight red card for bringing down Breel Embolo while through on goal.
Ruben Vargas doubled Switzerland’s lead with a curling finish before setting up Manzambi for his second goal of the night. Captain Granit Xhaka added a fourth from the penalty spot in stoppage time after Djibril Sow was fouled.
Bosnia managed a late consolation through Ermin Mahmic, who produced an impressive volley after a corner kick. Veteran striker Edin Džeko featured in his second World Cup campaign but failed to register a goal.
Switzerland had dominated possession for much of the match but struggled to break down Bosnia’s defence until Manzambi’s introduction changed the game.
The result moves Switzerland closer to the round of 32, while Bosnia-Herzegovina face an uphill battle to stay in the tournament.
