Meta brings AI smart glasses closer to everyday users
Meta has introduced a new set of AI smart glasses priced at $299, trying to push wearable tech into the mainstream. The launch was done with EssilorLuxottica, its long-time eyewear partner.
This new price point is a big shift. Earlier models, like the Ray-Ban Display glasses, cost up to $800. Now, Meta is clearly trying to reach regular users, not just tech fans with deep pockets.
The idea is simple: make AI something people can wear daily, not just test in labs or demos.
New look, no Ray-Ban tag, more lifestyle focus
This time, Meta is stepping away from Ray-Ban and Oakley branding. The new glasses come as a standalone product line.
Design-wise, users get different frame styles, including rectangle and oval shapes. There are also new colours aimed at younger and fashion-driven buyers.
A slim oval version was even co-designed with Kylie Jenner, showing how fashion is now part of the tech strategy.
In short, Meta is no longer selling just smart devices. It is selling style plus tech in one package.
Meta AI turns glasses into a talking assistant
The biggest upgrade is the AI brain inside the glasses. They now run Meta AI powered by Muse Spark, developed under Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.
Users can ask questions directly and get instant responses. The glasses can also support quick text-based interaction and real-time assistance.
Meta calls this direction “personal intelligence.” It simply means AI that stays with you everywhere, instead of living only on your phone or laptop.
This shift shows Meta is focusing more on usefulness in daily life, not just camera features or basic smart functions.
