Portable Fires Back at ‘Olodo’ Critics, Shares Success Story

Portable fires back at critics calling him “Olodo” saying he didn’t finish school but now supports his family.

Popular Nigerian singer Portable has opened up about his education journey. He revealed that he did not finish school because nobody could sponsor him. Despite that, he says he has no regrets. The singer also shared that he plans to return and complete his studies someday.

Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Portable said he sold sachet water while trying to stay in school. He explained that life became difficult because he lacked financial support. According to him, he studied Business Administration at Kwara State Polytechnic before dropping out. However, he believes his education is not over yet.

“I no finish school, the time wey I dey go school, I sell pure water, I no see anybody to sponsor me. I will still finish school, I be student of Kwara Poly where I studied Business Administration.”

Portable also spoke about how his family viewed him while growing up. He said his father made sure his brothers and sisters went to school. Meanwhile, he was often called the “Olodo” of the family. Today, he says the story has changed completely.

“My papa send my brothers and sisters go school, na me be Olodo but now, na me dey feed all of them. Government no give any of them job. Me wey be the Olodo come dey feed and support my papa.”

The singer said his experience proves that success does not always follow one path. He believes education is important, but it is not the only way to make it in life. According to him, some people succeed first before returning to complete their studies.

“It’s not must that before you finish school before you get it in life. You fit go outside and get it then come back and finish school.”

Meanwhile, Portable also replied people who constantly mock him as “Number One Olodo.” He questioned his critics, asking how many of them had travelled to countries like Canada or the United States.

“You call me ‘Number One Olodo,’ but how many of you have been to Canada before? Have you been to America? Were you given a work permit?” he asked.

The singer even boasted that he can visit Canada anytime he wants, saying all he needs is a return ticket and a place to stay. Once again, Portable made it clear that he measures success by results, not by classroom certificates alone

His story has sparked fresh conversations online about education, hard work, and different paths to success.
