The family of conservative activist Charlie Kirk attended court as prosecutors outlined evidence against the man accused of his killing.
Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, and his family came face-to-face with the man accused of murdering the conservative activist during a court hearing in Utah. Prosecutors presented surveillance footage, witness testimony and other evidence against Tyler Robinson, 23, who is charged with Kirk’s fatal shooting.
The week-long preliminary hearing will determine whether Robinson stands trial. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty, while Robinson has not yet entered a plea. His defence team questioned how investigators identified him and challenged parts of the evidence presented in court.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA and a close ally of US President Donald Trump, was shot dead while speaking at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025. Investigators told the court that surveillance footage placed Robinson on campus several times on the day of the attack.
The hearing will continue throughout the week as a judge decides whether the case will proceed to a full murder trial.
