Cubana Chief Priest celebrates the release of abducted Oyo pupils and teachers after over 50 days in captivity, calling it the best news of the week.
Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has reacted to the release of the Oyo schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped by terrorists. The celebrity barman described the development as the best news he had heard all week.
His reaction came shortly after presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the victims had regained their freedom. The rescued group included 39 pupils and six teachers. They had spent more than 50 days in captivity after gunmen attacked schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026.
The announcement quickly spread across social media. As expected, many Nigerians celebrated the good news. Cubana Chief Priest also joined the excitement through his Instagram page. He shared his joy with fans, writing,
“It’s gonna be such an amazing weekend. Thank God, this is the best news so far.”
His post attracted hundreds of reactions from followers who thanked God for the victims’ safe return. Sadly, one teacher was reportedly killed while the victims were still in captivity.
The Rescue Operation and Reactions So Far
Meanwhile, fresh details have emerged about the rescue operation. According to Bayo Onanuga, security operatives arrested eight suspects linked to the kidnapping. He also revealed that some kidnappers were killed during the operation, while others were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS). The presidential aide added that the government did not negotiate or grant any concession to secure the victims’ freedom. He further explained that the alleged kingpin behind the attack remains on trial for criminal offences.
Many Nigerians also flooded social media with mixed reactions after the rescue. While several people praised the security agencies, others questioned how the operation unfolded. One user wrote,
“Hallelujah, that’s really a good News.”
Another commented,
“They no rescue them, they release them… but thank God.”
A different user asked,
“How far the perpetrators?”
Despite the debates, relief remained the dominant feeling as families welcomed their loved ones back home after weeks of fear and uncertainty.
