UK rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly has told an Australian court that the “vibes were good” between him and a woman who later accused him of rape.
The UK Rapper Pleads “Not Guilty”
The entertainer, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, appeared in the District Court of Western Australia on Monday. He is standing trial over alleged offences linked to an incident in September 2024. However, he has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
According to Barrientos, he first noticed the woman at the nightclub where he performed in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth. He said he “fancied” her after seeing her near the VIP section.
Yung admitted placing his hand on her waist but denied touching her inappropriately.
“I recall putting my hand on her waist,” he told the court.
He also denied putting his hands down her pants or touching her breast. Later, both of them arrived at his hotel, where Barrientos claimed “the vibes were good.”
The Charges Laid Against Yung Filly
Meanwhile, the court heard that his security guard collected the woman’s phone before she entered the hotel room. Barrientos described it as a “standard practice” used to protect privacy. Prosecutors, however, allege the pair first had consensual sex before the situation turned violent. They claim the woman repeatedly asked him to stop before the alleged assault happened. Barrientos denies those allegations.
The 30-year-old faces six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of strangulation. The alleged incident happened while he was touring Australia. Besides his music career, Yung Filly is widely known for appearing with the YouTube group Beta Squad. He has also featured on Channel 4’s celebrity Bake Off and presented shows for BBC Three.
Yung Filly remains on bail and previously returned to the UK before coming back to Australia for the trial, which is still ongoing.
