Davido Says No Billionaire’s Child Has Matched His Success

Davido has boldly declared that no billionaire’s child has achieved the level of fame and success he enjoys today. The Afrobeats superstar made the statement during a recent interview with Vibe Magazine. He explained that although he was born into wealth, he still worked hard to build his own legacy. According to him, many Africans love grass-to-grace stories, but his journey proves that success can come in different ways.

Speaking about his career, Davido said,

“Africa loves the grass-to-grace story. The young boy that was poor and became rich. But not to brag, which other billionaire child do you know in the world who has made a name for himself and also made a lot of money? You can’t name one aside from me.”

The singer is the son of billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke. Despite growing up in comfort, he became one of Africa’s biggest music stars after releasing his debut single in 2011. Over the years, he has built a successful career with several hit songs and international awards.

Meanwhile, Davido also spoke about parenting and music. He revealed that he would not encourage his children to become musicians. His father once opposed his own music dream, and he now shares a similar view. Although he admitted that his second daughter has musical talent, he said he would not push her into the entertainment industry.

The interview comes as Davido celebrates the release of his sixth studio album, ORIADE, which dropped on July 31, 2026. The 13-track project features Leon Thomas, Black Sherif, Aya Nakamura, Mayorkun, Fola, Llona, NO11, JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay. Fans have already embraced songs like I Know Who I Be and Gimme Dat Ting.

Following the album release, the award-winning singer is also preparing for a world tour with concert dates across Europe.
