Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to pursue success through hard work, patience and integrity instead of depending on others for survival.
She spoke on Friday while receiving members of the National Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja. The First Lady also donated nine buses to support the activities of the party’s youth leadership across the country.
First Lady advises patience
According to a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, Senator Tinubu encouraged the youths to embrace values that would help them achieve lasting success.
However, she warned against the growing desire for quick success. She stressed that genuine progress comes through perseverance, discipline and trust in God’s timing.
“God always knows our needs, and that is what many young people do not understand. They are always in a hurry.”
‘Learn contentment’
The First Lady also urged the youths to embrace contentment and self-reliance instead of relying on others. She said discipline and honest work remain the foundation of lasting success.
“I am teaching you to learn contentment and not to be beggarly.”
Eagle mentality for success
Using the eagle as an example, Senator Tinubu encouraged the young leaders to remain resilient whenever they face challenges. According to her, the eagle rises above every storm instead of giving in to fear.
She also urged the youths to avoid comparing themselves with others. Instead, she encouraged them to stay focused on their personal journey and continue working towards their goals.
“You have to have the eagle’s mentality. When the eagle sees a storm, it does not panic; it rises above it. That is the attitude you should adopt. Find your own path instead of wanting something simply because someone else has it.”
The First Lady added that resilience, discipline and determination remain essential qualities for young Nigerians who want to build meaningful lives and contribute positively to society.
