Akwa Ibom Rolls Out N800m Empowerment for Non-Indigenes

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno revealed a major initiative. He stated that his administration allocates over N800 million for non-indigenous communities. This funding targets groups like Ndi Igbo, Arewa, Yoruba, and Niger Delta residents.

Eno shared this news during the Igbo Unity Day Celebration. The event took place at Ibom Hall Grounds in Uyo. Thousands attended to mark cultural harmony. The governor praised the Igbo community’s entrepreneurial drive. He noted their contributions to the state’s economy. As a result, he views them as vital to Akwa Ibom’s social fabric.

Fostering Peaceful Co-Existence

Eno reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership. He assured all residents of equal opportunities. Consequently the state becomes a melting pot of cultures. The governor highlighted deliberate efforts for peace and security. These actions enhance hospitality across Nigeria.

Moreover he urged communities to obey laws and avoid crime. In return, Eno promised ongoing partnerships. He aims to sustain harmonious relationships. This approach builds on previous successes in unity.

Community Honors and Support

Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide honored Eno as their grand patron. They expressed unanimous support for key leaders. This includes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Godswill Akpabio for 2027 re-elections.

The group’s president, Kayceey Chidiadi, commended Eno’s vision. He credited the governor for lasting peace in their forum. Previously, such unity eluded them for years. Furthermore, Chidiadi thanked Eno for appointments. Non-indigenes now hold government positions. This marks a first since the state’s creation.

Past Initiatives and Future Plans

Earlier in June of 2025, Eno released N250 million. This empowered over 540 persons in Ikot Abasi. They were supported in trades, agriculture, and businesses. The new N800 million provides further impetus. Non-indigenes are empowered with similar schemes, so economic growth radiates far and wide.

Meanwhile residents rally behind the plan. They see it as a step toward national cohesion. Leaders now focus on implementation. This initiative underscores Akwa Ibom’s role in unity. Citizens anticipate positive changes ahead. Updates will follow as programs roll out.
