The Nigerian Police Force has raised a high alert in Kogi State, especially in the Kogi East Senatorial District. Intelligence reports show that heavily armed bandits are moving into the forests around Bassa and Anyigba/Ochaja.
The bandits are fleeing military operations in Kwara and Niger States. They carry sophisticated weapons, including AK-47 rifles, and some wear military uniforms. Their movement poses a serious security threat to the area.
Police Pinpoint High-Risk Locations
Authorities have identified several high-risk locations where bandits may carry out coordinated attacks. Schools, including Ochaja Boys and Girls Secondary Schools and Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyigba, remain primary targets.
Police also flagged banks, police stations, and worship centres across Kogi East as vulnerable. Security agencies have deployed personnel to guard these locations and prevent possible attacks.
Security Forces on Alert
The Nigerian Police and other security agencies actively monitor the situation. Officers patrol critical infrastructure and public spaces. Authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
