Enyinnaya Abaribe, senator representing Abia South, has announced his defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Labour Party.
Also, Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central in the upper chamber, has also joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) from the ADC.
The Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, read their letters of defection on the floor of the red chamber during plenary on Tuesday.
Speaking on Arise Television on Monday, Umeh said he would be joining the NDC, a few days after his political ally, Peter Obi, moved to the party.
The Anambra North senator noted that he resigned his membership of the ADC on May 1, owing to an internal crisis within the party.
Earlier, Abaribe said he made the decision following the uncertainties surrounding the ADC.
“Given the uncertainties concerning the ADC party with regard to the multiple lawsuits and court judgements, I have today resigned from the ADC and joined the Labour Party, effective immediately.”
