ADC appoints Imoke to chair presidential screening committee ahead of primaries

Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River state, has been appointed chairman of the presidential screening committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

In a statement issued on Monday by Bolaji Abdullahi, national publicity secretary of the ADC, the party said Abdulfatah Ahmed, former governor of Kwara state, would chair the presidential election committee.

According to the statement, Hon. C.I.D. Maduabum will serve as secretary of the presidential screening committee.

Other members of the committee are Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Hon. Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu and Col. Abubakar Ali Ciroma.

The party also named Prof. Yisa Gana as secretary of the presidential election committee.

Other members include Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo, Dr. Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr. Macaulay Iyare, Tajudeen Bakare, Elder Ubolo Itodo Okpanachi, Zainab Buba Galadima, Uzoamaka Onyeama and Maj.-Gen Muhammad Inuwa Idris.

ADC further constituted a presidential appeals committee chaired by Dr. Suleiman Usman, SAN, with Barr. Ken Imasuagbon serving as secretary.

Barr. Dare Okerade was named as a member of the appeals committee.

The party also announced separate screening and appeal panels for its governorship primaries.

According to the statement, the committees were constituted to guarantee credibility, fairness and internal democracy during the conduct of the primaries.

“The committees were carefully constituted to ensure transparency, credibility, fairness, and internal democracy throughout the conduct of the party’s primaries,” the statement read.
