Anthropic has reportedly walked away from a proposed $6 billion deal to acquire Israeli AI startup Decart AI. The Claude maker had shown strong interest in the company. Bloomberg reported the development on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the talks. Anthropic also completed due diligence before ending the acquisition discussions. However, both companies could still work together in other ways.
The proposed deal focused heavily on Decart’s AI technology. Its system helps companies get better performance from the chips powering AI workloads. That could help Anthropic reduce the cost of training and running AI models. Decart says its technology helps developers “squeeze every drop of performance from every chip.” The system works during both training and inference.
Meanwhile, Anthropic is spending heavily to increase its computing power. Demand for Claude and other AI services continues to grow. As a result, Decart’s technology could have helped Anthropic get more from its existing infrastructure. The company is also preparing for a possible initial public offering. Reports suggest the IPO could become one of the biggest tech listings ever.
Decart was founded in 2023 by Israeli engineers Dean Leitersdorf, Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev. The startup develops AI models and tools that make demanding workloads more efficient. Although the $6 billion acquisition is no longer happening, the relationship may not be over.
