Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has defeated street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, after their celebrity boxing rematch ended in controversy on Friday night in Lagos.
The bout, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre inside the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, as part of the Chaos in the Ring boxing series.
The rematch marked the second time both entertainers settled their long-running feud inside the ring. This follows their widely publicised fallout over a disputed business deal in 2023.
The fight lasted only one round before descending into chaos.
Both men exchanged punches early in the contest before Portable grabbed Okocha and wrestled him to the canvas. The referee immediately halted the action, while security personnel and bouncers entered the ring to separate both fighters.
At the end of the opening round, Portable unexpectedly left the ring, prompting loud boos from sections of the crowd. The singer later returned and argued that taking Okocha to the ground meant he deserved to be declared the winner.
Fight officials rejected his claim. Instead, they ruled that Portable had abandoned the contest by walking away after the first round and awarded victory to Okocha.
Announcing the decision, the event host said:
“We do have a decision. And due to the fact that Portable abandoned the ring after the first round, we have a winner, Mr. Algorithm, Charles.”
Because the contest ended prematurely, judges did not complete any round-by-round scoring.
Following the announcement, Portable was seen arguing with members of his corner, insisting that Okocha had not fought fairly.
This adds another chapter to the rivalry between the two entertainers, whose off-stage disagreements have repeatedly attracted public attention.
