Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has criticised Nigerians for failing to hold their leaders accountable. The entertainer and activist shared his views in a video posted on Instagram.
Charly Boy, also called Area Fada, questioned why Nigerians continue to tolerate problems linked to poor leadership. He also criticised citizens who cheer politicians despite concerns about corruption and governance.
“Nigeria is a country where good roads are treated as luxury,” he said.
“A country where people with steady electricity are classified as the rich. And a country where the price of food can jump from N10,000 to N100,000 overnight with no questions asked. And you call that a country?””
He also pointed to rising food prices as another major concern.
According to him, citizens also play a role in the country’s challenges.
“Now tell me, can a nation exist without its citizens? No. Then what are the citizens doing?” Charly Boy asked.
Watching creators make jokes and normalising the breakdown. And watching corrupt leaders campaign only to turn out and cheer them on. What a shame,” he added.
He said many people watch creators joke about national problems instead of demanding change.
The entertainer further described Nigeria as a great nation with vast resources. However, he argued that poor leadership and silent citizens continue to hold the country back.
His comments have reignited conversations about civic responsibility, accountability and the everyday struggles faced by Nigerians.
