Nigerian music star Davido has appealed to US President Donald Trump over the upcoming Osun State governorship election. The singer urged Trump and the international community to monitor the election closely. The poll is expected to hold this weekend.
Davido, whose uncle Ademola Adeleke is the incumbent Osun governor, expressed concern over rising tension in the state. He warned that violence, voter intimidation, and disruption could affect the democratic process. Therefore, he called for stronger attention to the election.
In a statement shared on his X account, Davido urged authorities to protect voters and respect their votes. He also appealed for a peaceful and transparent election.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he wrote.
He directly addressed Trump in the post, saying:
“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.”
Davido also asked the United States and other international stakeholders to pay close attention to the polls. His appeal comes as attention grows around the election and its expected political tensions.
