Apostle Johnson Suleman, a Televangelist, has urged Nigerians to reject any government that fails to guarantee security, saying citizens should not reward poor performance with re-election.
In a Sunday message that has gone viral, the senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries said insecurity and hardship have worsened, leaving many Nigerians struggling to survive.
“Don’t vote for government that empowers people to kill you,” he said.
Suleman criticised what he described as a breakdown of systems, noting that even basic safety is no longer guaranteed.
“Today, to travel in Nigeria, you have to pray and believe God for a safe journey. Is that a country?” he asked.
He said many Nigerians are leaving the country not out of ambition but in search of safety.
“People abroad are not there because they want too much wealth. They just want to be safe,” he said.
The cleric also faulted the rising cost of living, saying citizens are not asking for too much from their leaders.
“If you can’t provide power, give us security. If you can’t give us security, let things be affordable. Just do one thing right,” he said.
Suleman warned against returning leaders who, in his view, failed to perform in their first term.
“First four years, somebody did nothing, you want to vote for him again? Performance is the best campaign,” he said.
He also criticised the political system, alleging that elections are often manipulated.
“They will pick you. It’s not by election, it’s by selection,” he said.
Despite his criticism, Suleman said he is not aligned with any political party, insisting that he speaks based on observed realities.
“Anywhere the government does well, I commend them. When they don’t, I speak,” he said.
He expressed hope that Nigeria can still improve, calling for responsible leadership and citizen engagement.
