Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has declared her intention to become Abia State’s next governor. She made the bold statement during a podcast interview with Nedu Wazobia. The episode aired on Instagram on August 17, 2026. Ogala said her political ambition is a divine mandate. She also insisted that she is better than every other contender.
“I am so sure, and I know it, because I’m better than all of them,” she said.
According to Ogala, nothing will stop her from becoming governor in 2027. She described her ambition as a call to rescue the people of Abia.
“My call to come and save my people is a divine mandate,” she said.
“I will be the next governor of Abia State. Nothing is going to stop it.”
Meanwhile, the actress also criticised Governor Alex Otti’s administration. She claimed she spent three months in Abia without steady electricity.
“I have been in Abia for 3 good months. No lights,” she said.
Ogala further challenged claims about development under Governor Otti. She argued that some projects credited to the current government started under the previous administration. In particular, she mentioned the Ariaria International Market.
“I dare the governor Alex Otti to challenge me. He didn’t build Ariaria,” she stated.
Ogala also claimed the A-Line section was constructed under former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. She added that she was part of that earlier government.
Earlier, Ogala had criticised Abia’s ₦150 million campaign advertising permit. The Abia AAC governorship candidate described the policy as unfair to opposition candidates. She also said it could affect campaign activities before the 2027 election. Ogala argued that the fee is too high amid the current economic hardship. She warned that political parties could stop using billboards if the policy remains.
With her latest declaration, the actress has made her political ambition clear. The coming election season will show how far that ambition can go.
