England Reach World Cup Semi-finals as Bellingham Inspires Comeback Against Norway

Jude Bellingham scored twice as England fought back to beat Norway 2-1 after extra time and move within one win of the FIFA World Cup final.

England are through to the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals after a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway. The victory was inspired by Jude Bellingham delivering another match-winning performance.

Norway took the lead in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup struck a dipping shot that beat England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. However, England responded before the break through Bellingham, who calmly finished after collecting a well-timed pass from Anthony Gordon.

England survived several scares in the second half. Norway had a goal ruled out after Erling Haaland was penalised for pushing Elliot Anderson in the build-up, while David Moller Wolfe also hit the crossbar. Haaland struggled to make an impact and was substituted during extra time.

The decisive moment came three minutes into extra time when Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland failed to hold Morgan Rogers’ shot. Bellingham reacted quickest to score his second goal and complete England’s comeback.

Manager Thomas Tuchel made key changes at half-time, bringing on Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze. This came after Declan Rice, who had been battling illness and injury, was withdrawn.

The victory sends England into their third men’s World Cup semi-final since winning the tournament in 1966. They will now face defending champions Argentina for a place in the final.

England are now just one victory away from reaching their first men’s FIFA World Cup final in 60 years.
