Comedienne Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Warri Pikin, has apologised over her viral moment with singer Timaya. The incident sparked heavy reactions across social media. Many Nigerians accused the comedian of disrespecting her husband, Ikechukwu. The backlash followed a video showing Timaya lifting Warri Pikin during his performance.
The moment happened while Timaya performed his hit song, “Ukwu.” Warri Pikin said she was backstage enjoying the performance. She rushed onto the stage after Timaya called for a woman to join him. However, she claimed she did not expect the singer to involve her in the performance that way. According to her, she initially refused when Timaya asked her to jump on him.
Explaining what happened, Warri Pikin said she did not want to disrupt Timaya’s performance.
“I was very reluctant, but he said I was the one who came outside, so I shouldn’t spoil his performance,” she said.
She also admitted that the moment looked entertaining on stage. However, she understood why viewers reacted differently online.
Meanwhile, Warri Pikin revealed that her husband is unhappy about the incident. She joked about her online “in-laws” asking where she would go if her marriage ended.
“Like this now Ikechukwu dey vex for me and you know say I dey America, e too far,” she said.
Taking responsibility, she pleaded with Nigerians to forgive her.
“I take full responsibility, make una forgive me. Na me do am to myself,” she added.
Warri Pikin also stressed that the incident does not reflect her character. She said some people criticised her because they were genuinely.
