Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, an economist and banker, has picked the presidential nomination form of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 election.

Hayatu-Deen picked up the N90 million form at the party’s national headquarters, becoming the first presidential aspirant to officially declare interest in the ADC ticket for the 2027 presidential race.

The economist and corporate executive from Borno state was received by supporters and party members during the exercise.

In a statement issued after obtaining the form, Hayatu-Deen said Nigeria’s next election should focus on security, economic recovery, and improving living conditions for citizens.

“This election must be about securing our communities, rebuilding confidence in the economy, creating jobs, and making life more affordable for Nigerians,” he said.

Hayatu-Deen is widely known in Nigeria’s banking and investment sector, having built a career spanning economic management, finance and corporate leadership.

The development comes amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general election, with opposition parties seeking to position themselves as alternatives to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
