Veteran entertainer Charly Boy has defended his daughter following criticism of her engagement to a woman. The music icon said his daughter is old enough to make her own choices. He also urged critics to respect her decision.

In a recent social media post, Charly Boy questioned how anyone could dictate the life of a 50-year-old woman. He said he can offer advice, but cannot control another adult’s decisions.

“As a father, I fit advise. I fit talk my mind. But I no get remote control for another adult’s life,” he wrote.

The entertainer also spoke about his daughter’s past marriage. According to him, she went through difficult experiences before leaving the marriage. He said she later met her female partner after walking away. Charly Boy added that his daughter has six children, including one who made him a great-grandfather. Despite the criticism, he said he would continue to support her.

“I no fit choose her happiness for her,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Charly Boy compared his daughter’s situation to his own journey. He recalled how his father could not stop him from becoming the man he wanted to be. For him, the same freedom should apply to his daughter.

“Everybody deserves the freedom to pursue their own happiness,” he said.

He also wished his daughter and others happiness, adding,

“At the end of the day, na love remains.”

The veteran had earlier shared a video from the engagement ceremony and congratulated the couple.
