Ubi Franklin has shared one of the darkest moments of his life. The music executive revealed that he once drove to the Third Mainland Bridge with plans to end his life. According to him, the emotional pain came after his failed marriage to Nollywood actress Lilian Esoro became a major topic on social media. He made the emotional disclosure in a viral post. Looking back, Ubi said the public embarrassment became too much to bear.
Speaking about their relationship, Ubi said he met Lilian Esoro on January 4, 2015. He proposed to her on March 19, 2015, just a few months later. Sadly, the marriage later crashed and attracted massive online reactions. He admitted that the constant criticism deeply affected his mental health.
“I drove to the bridge to commit suicide,” he recalled.
Thankfully, his brother, cousin, and fashion designer Omini Stitches reached him in time and stopped the tragic act.
Reflecting on the experience, Ubi admitted he ignored several warning signs before getting married. He also confessed that he tried too hard to save a relationship with someone who was not fully committed. In addition, he advised young people to avoid the challenges of having children with different partners. According to him, such situations often create unnecessary emotional stress and family complications.
Despite everything that happened, Ubi said time has brought healing. He revealed that he and Lilian Esoro now have a healthy co-parenting relationship. The former couple also maintain a good friendship for the sake of their son. His emotional story has sparked fresh conversations about mental health, heartbreak, and the pressure that comes with living in the public eye. Many Nigerians have since praised him for speaking openly about a painful chapter that almost ended his life.
