New Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon have raised concerns about regional tensions despite a recent US-Iran agreement.
Israel has reportedly launched fresh airstrikes in southern Lebanon, days after US President Donald Trump publicly criticized Israel’s military actions in the country.
According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, Israeli warplanes targeted the Nabatieh al-Fawqa area and the outskirts of Kfar Tebnit on Wednesday. The Israeli military has not yet commented on the strikes, though it has previously said operations in Lebanon are aimed at weakening the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.
The latest attacks come despite Trump’s remarks at the G7 summit in France, where he urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to show greater restraint. Trump said the conflict with Hezbollah had continued for too long and resulted in too many deaths.
Tensions remain high after both Israel and Hezbollah exchanged attacks following the announcement of a US-Iran agreement on Sunday. While details of the deal have not been released, Pakistan, which helped mediate talks, said Lebanon is included in the framework.
The situation highlights the fragile state of regional stability as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation.
