Kim Kardashian has received just $1.15 from a Paris court over her 2016 robbery. The court awarded her the symbolic amount on Tuesday, September 15.
Kardashian had requested the same sum as compensation for the traumatic incident. The reality star was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès during Paris Fashion Week. A robbery gang targeted her inside the luxury hotel on October 2, 2016.
The court previously found eight people guilty for their roles in the robbery. Kardashian described the incident as “the most terrifying experience of my life.” Despite the small compensation, she said the ruling means much more than money. In a statement with her stylist, Simone Harouche, Kardashian thanked the French justice system.
“Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” they said.
Meanwhile, the court awarded significant damages to other people affected by the robbery. A former hotel receptionist received €109,516 ($126,472). His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, described the ruling as a victory. The receptionist had requested €550,000 ($634,868) in damages and interest. He told the court that the robbery left him traumatised. The hotel itself also received €50,000 ($57,741).
Harouche, who was present during the robbery, also received €1. Kardashian said she remains grateful that French authorities pursued the case. She also acknowledged the lasting effect of the crime on her family.
“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability,” she said.
Kardashian now hopes to move forward and continue healing.
