Ireti Kingibe, senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has denied reports that she was invited by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over an alleged ₦100 million contract kickback.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kingibe described a report by The Sun Nigeria claiming she was “dragged” to the ICPC as false and misleading.
“The publication alleging that I was dragged to the ICPC over a ₦100 million kickback for a fake contract is entirely false,” she said.
She insisted that the anti-graft agency has never contacted her.
“I have never been invited, queried, or contacted by the ICPC on this or any related matter,” she said.
“At no time has the commission written to me or sought any explanation regarding any allegation whatsoever.”
Furthermore, Kingibe said the report misrepresents her role as a legislator.
“As a senator, I do not award contracts, not even for constituency projects. All such projects are executed by relevant ministries, departments and agencies,” she said.
INTERVIEW ON ARISE TV
Meanwhile, she linked the report to her recent comments on national issues.
She said the publication surfaced shortly after her appearance on Arise Television, where she alleged manipulation of the 2026 electoral act in favour of President Bola Tinubu.
“What is most telling is the timing. This publication surfaced the very morning after my interview on Arise Television,” she said.
“I spoke candidly on the state of the nation.”
In addition, Kingibe alleged a pattern of intimidation against critics of government.
“It is becoming increasingly evident that those who choose to speak truth to power must contend with calculated attempts at intimidation and character assassination,” she said.
However, she said she will not back down.
“I will not be silenced,” she said.
“I remain resolute in my commitment to transparency and responsible governance.”
