American rapper Lil Durk has won a major legal battle after a jury found him not guilty on all five charges.
The verdict came Friday, September 11, after three days of deliberations. The federal case linked Durk to a 2022 shooting in Los Angeles. Prosecutors claimed he planned the attack against rival rapper Quando Rondo. The shooting happened near the Beverly Center and left Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, dead.
According to prosecutors, Durk wanted revenge for the 2020 killing of his close friend, King Von. They claimed he hired gunmen to target Rondo. The attackers reportedly fired 18 shots at Rondo’s black Cadillac Escalade. Rondo survived the attack, but Robinson suffered fatal injuries. Prosecutors also argued that Durk helped finance the alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Durk’s defence strongly rejected those claims throughout the trial. His lawyers pointed to his former assistant, Kavon Grant, as the person behind the attack. They argued that Grant acted alone while trying to impress the rapper. The defence also questioned the credibility of witnesses who testified against Durk. In the end, the jury rejected the prosecution’s case and cleared him on every count.
Still, the legal battle is not over for the rapper. Durk remains in custody despite his latest courtroom victory. He faces a separate federal trial scheduled for October 5, 2026. That case involves racketeering, murder and firearms allegations.
For now, however, Durk can celebrate a major win after avoiding a possible conviction in the high-profile murder-for-hire case.
