The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his position. He announced his decision on Monday, October 12, 2026.
In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi confirmed that his departure took effect immediately. His exit comes amid a growing wave of resignations among Makinde’s aides in the past two months.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, served in Makinde’s administration. However, his resignation adds to the list of government officials who have recently stepped down. His departure has drawn attention to the ongoing changes within the governor’s team.
In his letter dated October 12, Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state. He described his time in government as an honour and praised the administration’s achievements. He also highlighted his contribution to Oyo State’s growth and development.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he wrote.
Ogunwuyi also expressed confidence in the state’s continued progress despite his departure. He ended his letter by reaffirming his loyalty to Oyo State and Nigeria.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.
Ogunwuyi’s resignation marks another major departure from Makinde’s administration. However, the reasons behind his decision remain unclear.
